I can’t tell you how long I’ve wanted an Urban Decay Naked Palette in my life. I’ve watched endless Youtube videos and read multiple blog posts that all can’t speak highly enough of this seemingly must have makeup item.
An Urban Decay Naked Palette costs £38 (with the basic palettes being £23) For me this is all very expensive. I love a bargain so to spend that much on makeup isn’t something I would usually do. I’ve wanted one for so long though that I finally decided to treat myself!
I went in to John Lewis (a department store in the UK) and instantly went to the Urban Decay Makeup counter to try and decide which one to get. It took me quite a while to decide because I didn’t want to make the wrong choice especially as it costs so much money. I’d only be buying the one palette so it had to be right!
I looked at the Naked Basic Palettes first. These are the cheapest so I was really hoping I liked these the best. There are two to choose from. The Naked Basic Palette contains six eye shadows. They are all matt neutral shades mainly brown and base colours. The Naked Basic Palette 2 again has 6 shades and it’s very similar to the first one containing all matt neutral shades. Both of these palettes didn’t excite me mainly because I like to add some shimmer to my eye makeup which wasn’t an option with these two basic palettes.
It was therefore going to be the expensive full size option and there were four of these to choose from!
There was the original Naked Palette and the Naked Palette 2 to consider. To me these looked extremely similar. They each have 12 shades containing matte, neutral, shimmer and sparkle. Everything you could want! It’s again mainly brown shades with some base shades. I spoke to the lady at the makeup counter about the main differences between the two palettes. She said that the original Naked Palette is more subtle and is more for everyday compared to the Naked Palette 2.
The original Naked Palette was definitely winning so far but there were still two more to see! Next up was the Naked Palette 3. I knew from first glance that this one wasn’t for me because there are a lot of pinky shades which isn’t something I ever wear.
Last but not least is the Naked Smokey Palette. This one also has 12 shades including golden, grey, purple and base options which give you everything you need to achieve a sultry smokey eye. Less subtle shades then the other palettes but this is what I would want to use for a night out.
So after perusing all these fab palettes which one is best? Here is my conclusion:
The Naked Basic Palettes – Go for this if you are on a tight budget and are just looking for a few matte brown shades.
The Naked Palette – For everything you could want for everyday looks!
The Naked Palette 2 – If you like the Naked Basic Palette but want a more intense version.
The Naked Palette 3 – If you like pink shades.
The Naked Smokey Palette – If you want everything you need to nail the perfect smokey eye look.
I hope this blog post has helped you decide what Urban Decay Naked Palette you would like to get. The best Urban Decay Naked Palette really depends on you and what you are looking for. I was looking for a palette for everyday use with a variety of brown shades to choose from which is why I decided to go for the original Naked Palette.
I’m so excited to use it and of course will be soon adding a full review of it on my blog!
