The Perfume Test

untitled (1 of 1)-209

I read somewhere that wearing perfume can make you feel more confident. For me that’s definitely true. Although it all depends on the scent, I have to LOVE it!

I always wear the same perfume but wanted to discover a new fragrance but which one? I decided to buy three tester bottles from The Fragrance Shop. They cost £3 for all three but the good thing is if you like one enough to buy the full sized perfume they take the cost of the testers off of the postage and packaging!

I got testers of Hugo Boss for Women, Stella by Stella McCartney and Love Story by Chloe. Here is what I thought of each one. I have scored them out of 5.

Hugo Boss For Women

untitled (1 of 1)-210

In the card of the tester pack it describes Hugo Boss for Women as:

“An unconventional blend of rich floral and daring fruity notes with an aromatic twist”

As soon as I smelt this fragrance I realised I’d had this one before! I knew instantly it was the perfume I nagged my Dad to buy me as a teenager. We were flying on a plane and the Air Hostess was selling gifts on her trolley. I begged my Dad to buy this for me and he eventually did (for the quiet life!)

untitled (1 of 1)-214

I wore this a lot when I was younger and I love how smelling it again brought so many memories of my teenage years flooding back. It’s a fruity fragrance that smells of summer and I love it!

Score – 5/5

Stella by Stella McCartney

untitled (1 of 1)-211

The next one I tried was Stella by Stella McCartney. This one is described as:

“The first fragrance by Stella McCartney, inspired by the fragile beauty of a rose  contrasted by sensuality of amber”

untitled (1 of 1)-215

Trying this perfume I could immediately smell the roses and it smelt very sophisticated and feminine. Stella McCartney said that she wanted it to reflect her English side and be traditional. I’d agree that she met her aim. I only had to put a bit on for it to last for hours.

Score – 4/5

Love Story by Chloe

untitled (1 of 1)-212

Last but not least is Love Story by Chloe it says it’s:

“The marriage of luminous and sensual orange blossom with stephanotis jasmine, the flower of happiness”

Chloe have also described this scent as all about passion, seduction and you guessed it love! When I first put it on I didn’t really like it and was a bit disappointed because I love the original Chloe scent.

untitled (1 of 1)-213

Once it settled on the skin the scent changed to a sweet floral smell which was more appealing. Chloe Love Story isn’t quite as good as the original but a nice perfume all the same.

Score: 3/5

After doing the perfume test I will be definitely be buying Hugo for Women – nostalgia wins!

Let me know what your favourite perfume is and why. I’d love to know what ones I’m missing out on!

I’ve smelt all three before and I have to agree with your analysis. The HB fragrance is so much more subtle and lasts for ages. When Hugo Boss brought back their ‘For Women’ perfume I was made up, it smells amazing. Stephen :o)
